Write as if your heart is speaking to you. Write about your dreams. Write about your wishes, your fantasies. Write a story that comes from your very soul. However, write it to a large audience so we can sell it! The simplification of the English language, or, the American language as I hear in certain circles. The readability factor should be between 60 – 70 on a scale of 100. The grade level should be around 8 so that you can expand your audience. What would Shakespeare think some four-hundred years later? The downsizing of american literary works! Should we be more concerned about the simplification of a word, or finding the right word that best describes our feeling, our passion at that very moment? Keep it simply, but do not simplify to the point that the passion, the painted picture has been removed from our imagination. If the reader cannot imagine, cannot see or feel our passion, then we as writers have failed that reader.
