Last night, I reflected on 2015—the boys are turning into young men, Larissa is on the cusp of a new chapter in her life, my book hit shelves and became a bestseller. I decided to make a symbolic gesture to kick off 2016, a year in which I will ramp up my personal, professional and parental efforts. So, I didn’t wait until I was a handful of drinks in to sing karaoke to a room full of strangers. Instead, I started the evening in front of the mic and I got people on their feet and singing along. And I ended the evening counting down the last seconds of 2015 with my family. It could not have been better.

Happy New Year, everyone. Here’s to a fantastic 2016. May your hangover be short and your happiness be long.

“Oh, what can it mean to a daydream believer and a homecoming queen?”
