A New Year's Poem

For New Year's Day I have a poem for you. Enjoy...

A Handful of Hours

 Shall the porcelain clock face
freeze—its hands stilled
against the monumental
advance, the ever present loom
of that unfriendly ticking time

Shall we stay within that frozen
second—its sad face forgotten
our one moment defended in
this stagnant infinitesimal, far outside
our remaining handful of hours

William Chauvin I have one of those frozen seconds in my life. Dare I say most of those seconds that happen are usually shared with someone?

The best ones are shared, at any rate.
