Particular Moments of Note In “The Force Awakens”

Chewbacca, having earlier complained of the cold, later stops to retrieve Han Solo’s coat and scarf off the floor, and gives them back to Han.

The character Rey picks up a lightsaber and uses it like a streetfighter with a knife: deflect, stab at the heart, deflect, stab at the heart.

The Millennium Falcon has many new landing lights.

First Order troop rallies sure look like Triumph of the Will!

There is a lot of classic 1980s’ buddy movie stuff from the Eddie Murphy / John Landis / Harold Ramis school of comedy.

Harrison Ford is actually the star of the movie, and is the only actor to appear in 75% of the scenes.

Chewbacca is going to be in these episodes forever, even as the first generation wraps it up in the next couple of movies.

A lot of the stuff that annoyed me the first time was palatable and even effective the second time.

And that means I saw it twice—over the holidays with several generations of relatives, just like people used to do in church at Christmastime.
