What’s the “Nerd Herd”? Find out in @LeaKirkWrites Top Ten List #scifi #romance

blog top ten 2016

Thank you for inviting me, Jessica! It’s a thrill to be here as a guest on your blog today.

As a debut author of sci-fi romance, I felt it would be fun to introduce myself by telling you a little bit about me. So, here are ten things you may not know about Lea Kirk:

I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was very young. I was nine when I acknowledged this dream to my parents by writing them a little story. Complete with pictures drawn in crayon.
When I was six years old, I’d put on the tunic top of my red knit pantsuit and my white go-go boots (don’t judge me, it was 1971for crying out loud) and I’d run through my parents’ house pretending to be Lieutenant Uhura.
#2 is my dad’s fault. He introduced me to Star Trek.
One of the first romances I read was by Bertrice Small when I was fifteen. My mom does not know, nor has she read any of Ms. Small’s books. Let’s keep this as our little secret, shall we?
At sixteen, I decided I wanted to write sci-fi romance, and began writing Prophecy, my debut book. Eventually, I set it aside to write other stories. It came back to me over thirty years later when I was in bed with 102-degree fever.
My muse is a pain in the a** because she forces me to get up and write even when I have a fever.
Lea is my middle name. Kirk is my grandmother’s maiden name. When I was in high school, I told my grandmother I would write under this pseudonym. I will never forget how her face lit up.
Lea is pronounced Lee.
My husband is not a space alien…as far as I know.
Collectively, I refer to my five kids as “The Nerd Herd”.

Thank you for dropping by Jessica’s blog today. It has been fun sharing a bit of myself here. I hope you’ll take a moment to check out Prophecy. I had so much fun writing this story. Watch for its sequel, Salvation, coming the summer of 2016!

blog about the author 2016

Lea KirkLea Kirk loves to transport her readers to other worlds with her romances of science fiction, fantasy, and time travel. Her debut book, Prophecy, is the first sci-fi romance in her three book series. She also has a time-travel romance, a dragon shape shifter romance, and another SFR not related to the Prophecy Series waiting in the wings.

Ms. Kirk lives in Northern California with her wonderful hubby of twenty-five years and their five kids (aka, the nerd herd). She’s also proud of her seven times great grandson. Apparently her stories will serve as the inspiration for James T. to join Star Fleet Academy. She learned this in the 1980’s when James sought out her counsel on where to find a pair of humpback whales.
