Miss Universe 2015
I hate Beauty Pageants because, as you mention, OM, they are misogynist by their nature. Imagine doing this to MEN! The fact that it would be totally ridiculous makes the point!
BUT I am SO GLAD that Ms. Philippines won. The Philippines has so much poverty and is so divided (by more than 100 languages & thousand islands).
They have had corruption in their government and countries dominating then for hundreds of years. They have at least two major religions: Muslim & Catholicism (with the country basically ignoring the first one OR oppressing them).
I recently read the novel, “Smaller & Smaller Circles” (which is reviewed on my blog). It shows how many killings are basically ignored because the children are street kids. I am also aware of women being treated horribly, but no one care because they are so poor they had to become prostitutes to survive.
My husband is Filipino and there are a lot of wonderful Filipinos all over the world, but they only concern themselves with helping their family and townspeople because of the divisions I mentioned above.
If you want to help the poor in the Philippines, go to OneFilipino.org & see what you can do! ;-)
Peace, love & a descent life for all,
Sherrie

I admit I watched it. The ending was an epic failure by Steve Harvey and was about as awkward as his current Family Fued episodes that show only black versus white families. I felt Miss South Korea should have won. She is Korean after all.
If you missed it and haven’t seen the numerous stories on every media about it basically Steve Havrey announced the wrong winner for the Miss Universe pageant last night. He looked pretty sad reluctantly walking back on stage to say he had made a mistake. The last Miss Universe looked like she felt really bad for Miss Colombia as she took the crown she had just given her back to give it to the real winner. Particularly considering the ex Miss Universe is Colombian as well and it was a historic moment if the same country had won back to back. People are blaming Trump…
