I write from what I only half-jokingly call the Darkside. Ever since I was a teenager, I was captivated by stories with emotional intensity. I didn’t want to simply read a book, I wanted to be absorbed into it. I wanted to laugh, to cry, to shiver. I wanted to not be able to look away from the page. For me, those moments encapsulate everything that matters about reading and writing. The magic of books is their ability to carry us away.
