Changes!

Well, it’s nearly the end of 2015 and I’m deep in preparation for my family to come visit for the holidays. This is an extra deep cleaning because my father at age 80 has found love again. He’s married, moved into a new house, and is selling the old family home. That means I have a ton of old crap to sort through, some of it from the 1960s. Which makes me especially nostalgic. Guess what I’ve discovered/learned.

We still have mice in our house. Not surprising given Cinnamon’s joy of bringing home her not-yet-dead prey. But still….yuck.
I found my husband’s old love letters to me. He’s still a man of few words and he sucks at expressing emotion. But I now remember that he had problems with smelly sneakers even back in his twenties.
I don’t use a lot of make up. This is not a surprise, but my children pointed out that cosmetics expire. There’s really no point to keeping that bright lime color of eye shadow from the year 2000.
I had a go-go watch in the 1970s. Has that come back around in style?
My children don’t want to wear my wedding dress. So why the *&*#& was I saving it for 30+ years?
Foreign editions. Remember that blog that I wrote about shipping out all my foreign copies in languages I don’t know? Well, I found more books, so we may be shipping out more in the future!
Old promo items. Bookmarks never die. They just sit around in piles and gather dust. They have got to go! Plus, I’ve found a box of my first book tucked away in my parents’ basement. Anyone want a copy of Oracle, (which was retitled to A Magic King)?
It could take me months if not years to thoroughly clean all the debris of my life. That would be productive, but I’d never get more books written. Therefore…I’m giving up. We’re doing a surface clean and then ignoring the rest. This is my family, and I know for a fact that they’re not much neater than I am!

Answer: All of the above, including the go-go watch. I’d include a picture except my niece snatched it up. I think it’s on a doll somewhere.

So that’s it for my deep thoughts at this time of year. Happy Holidays everyone! Keep watching this space. I’m going to have some exciting new things coming very soon. Beginning of January, in fact!  HUGS!
