How to play with your food

I'm in Chicago right now, for ALA: the annual meeting of the American Library Association. I've been to a couple of them before and have always had a marvellous time -- once, with people like Art Spiegelman and Scott McCloud and Colleen Doran explaining to curious librarians what graphic novels were and why they should have them in their libraries, another time getting to visit New Orleans for the first time Post-Katrina, when I went to two dinners with Poppy Z Brite, and one of th

Russell The ALA were the first to turn me on to graphic novels as a teaching resource, and who turned me on to your works, and others. Now I am happily teaching a whole graphic literature high school class.

Stephen Welch It good some one takes the time tell librarians about GNs. I have heard so many libraries will just lump all of them together in the young readers sections. And it will include ones like Preacher and some that are mature readers for sure.

Sadly there is still that narrow minded view that if it is comic it automatically is for kids.
