God’s Omnipotence

Nehemiah 13:26 Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.

God is able to make you incomparable in many ways. He is able to make you shine, to stand out in a crowd. The secret of Solomon is mentioned – He was loved by God. Why did God love Solomon so much? Was it because of David his father? Was it because he was generous towards God …was it his wisdom that he used to rule his people … was it because he built God a temple. We may not know, but we understand that God loved him and made him a ruler beyond comparison. Solomon was made incomparable to any other king … but it was God who made him king. Remember the infighting and plots to stop Solomon from becoming king …but once God had made his decision, Solomon was not just king, but an incomparable one. God is awesome in what He can do or undo. Do not worry about your lack of qualifications … if it is God’s idea, it will work and you will see the evidence in its superiority over far better qualified efforts.

How then should we respond to such love and grace? Meditate on God’s omnipotence …Solomon did not respond well. Be cautious – remember God is at work and not you. God expected acceptable service from Solomon … but Solomon disappointed God. Solomon did not know the reason for God’s special grace on his life.

Isaiah 54:5 For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
