Spotlight on Found in Flames by Rose Wulf and Evernight Publishing.
Hey there. I’ve got the delightful Rose Wulf talking about her new release, Found in Flames.Without further adieu, I’ll let her take it away!
Hello everyone! I’m Rose Wulf and I’d like to thank the fabulous Michelle Roth for hosting me and my brand-new release, Found in Flames!
Found in Flames is the next installment of my young paranormal romance series, Night Shadows. This story follows Luka Craige, a large-and-in-charge Alpha werewolf, and the not-so-blissfully unaware human woman, Joella Harp. My vision for Luka was rippling muscle and raw masculinity in the sexiest way. He’s a man (well, y’know…) on a mission and nothing and no one can deter him. Enter Joella: lonely working woman who’s tired of taking everyone’s shit in stride. I’d tell you more about them, but why spoil the fun?

Blurb:
All his life Luka Craige has been haunted by the witch that killed his family. Finally, having chased him across the country to the edge of vampire territory, Luka has his chance at vengeance. But not before his Beta is killed and Luka finds himself protecting a woman he doesn’t know. A woman who arouses him like never before. Could he possibly exact his revenge and find his mate?
A burning body was the last thing Joella Harp expected to find when she rounded the corner. Let alone a body with a man standing over it. After that her droll life becomes a whirlwind of werewolves, wild sex, and deadly fire. The witch wants her dead, she can barely think past her mouthwatering rescuer, and in no time she realizes this adventure could be more than a fantastical memory…. If she’s brave enough.
Interview with Luka Craige:
If you had a free day with no responsibilities and your only mission was to enjoy yourself, what would you do?
Interesting idea, but for an Alpha, there’s no such thing. Even if I wasn’t hunting a murderer, I’ll always be responsible for my pack’s well-being. But I’ll gladly take a day where my biggest worry is whether or not it’ll rain.
What impression do you make on people when they first meet you? How about after they’ve known you for a while?
From what I hear, the first impression most people get from me is something along the lines of ‘oh fuck.’ I’m large in both man and wolf form. Plus I have a nasty scar that’s impossible to completely cover up. But after a while the people closest to me come to learn that they can trust me, and that’s what counts.
What’s your idea of a good marriage? Do you think that’ll happen in your life?
In simplest terms, wolves call it mating. ‘Good’ is relative, though. My parents had it good, and I’d be damned lucky if I could find that for myself someday. It’s just not something I’m holding my breath for; I’ve got more important things to focus on right now. And everyone knows revenge and romance don’t mix.
What are you most proud of about your life?
Finding the backbone to go after the bastard who killed my parents without my former Alpha’s permission. Put me through a lot of hell, but I couldn’t have lived with myself if I let him get away like some passive puppy.
– And what about something more personal?
The murder of my parents – my only family – was pretty fucking personal, actually.
– Why is that so meaningful to you?
It shaped my whole damned future, not to mention destroyed every illusion of peace and happiness I’d held in my youth. From that moment on my sole purpose in life has been to find and slaughter the witch responsible for their deaths.
What are you most ashamed of in your life?
Letting the murderer get away the last time I managed to get my claws into him. I fucking had him, but I wasn’t prepared for his power. I was lucky to get away with just this scar.
If you could spend the day with someone you admire (living or dead or imaginary), who would you pick?
My father. I barely remember either of my parents, but I was always proud of my father. I’d kill for the chance to spend another five minutes with him.
Do you think you’ve turned out the way your parents expected?
Honestly, I dunno. I was turning into a pack hunter when they were killed, and I remember they were proud of my accomplishments. I remember my mother telling me I was strong and she was glad for it, but that’s not the same as foreseeing me becoming an Alpha. That didn’t bloom until later.
What do you believe about God? What do you suppose God thinks of you?
I don’t put a lot of faith in mankind’s God. Mother Nature is our home and the moon our queen. Or maybe she counts as our deity, that could be argued. We heed the pull of the moon, so I’d guess she’s satisfied with that.
Is there anything you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t done? What would happen if you did it?
As an Alpha, I pretty much do what I want. Of course I’ve yet to kill the witch, so I guess that fits here. I’d love to tear his flesh from his bones. Once he’s dead… hell if I know. Part of me figures I won’t survive that fight. If I do, I’ll head home, rebuild, and maybe start thinking about finding a mate.
What’s the worst thing that’s happened in your life? What did you learn from it?
In case you haven’t picked up on it, that’d be my parents’ murder. As a result I learned the value in standing on my own feet, fighting for what really matters, and how to be my own man.
Tell me about your best friend.
I don’t really have one of those. If I did, it’d be Justin, my Beta. He’s a good guy, even if he lets me get away with a little too much. If it weren’t for him I’m fairly sure the entire pack would’ve abandoned me when I decided to chase down the scent of my parents’ killer again. He’s loyal, friendly, and knows how to be honest and nice at the same time.
What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done to someone? Why?
Guess that’d be the part of the pack I left behind a few months ago. We’d been good, settled, and growing when I caught the bastard’s scent after so long. I tried to get the whole pack to uproot with me, but most families aren’t so keen on that kind of change. I owe them the biggest kind of apology if I live long enough to make it back, because I left all of them pack-less. All in the name of revenge.
What would you like it to say on your tombstone?
There won’t be any tombstones for me. More likely than not I’ll be burned alive, but even if there is a body, we don’t make the graves. We just return the bodies to the earth and hold onto their memories.
Describe your ideal mate.
Damn, there’s a challenge. I’ve never given a whole lot of thought to my ‘ideal mate.’ Off the cuff, I’d say she obviously has to be able to call me on my crap. She’d have to see through my bristling on days I need a shoulder – and she’d need to learn to interpret me, too. Hell, this is complicated. I like women with meat on their bones and fight in their spirit who aren’t jealous or clingy. Just go with that.
What are you most afraid of?
Failing.
What’s the most important thing in your life? What do you value most?
My pack is my family and my family is why I’m here. But to properly protect them I have to kill the witch. Protecting my family is what I value most.
What do you like best about yourself? Least?
I’m driven, for better or worse. Probably counts for both.
How do you feel about your life right now? What, if anything, would you like to change?
Right at this moment I’m forcing half my pack to live like nomads while I hunt down a murderer, so it’s probably obvious I’d like to have the bastard dead and take my pack home. Before I caught his scent again I was content, at least most of the time.
Are you lying to yourself about something? What is it?
Do I look like some kind of psychic to you? I’m not that self-aware. If I’m lying to myself I’m not ready to admit it yet, so I don’t know.
What trait do you most deplore in others?
That’s a list. Deceit and passivity are probably at the top. No one likes a liar and it pisses me off when someone just sits back and lets someone else wrong them. About as much as the person doing the wrong pisses me off for taking advantage.
About Rose:
Rose Wulf hails from Northern California, where she spends as much time as possible dreaming about love. Despite all the fun inherent in throwing innocent characters into crazy situations just to get them to those three little words, Rose does sometimes have to return to reality. When she’s not writing or plotting, Rose enjoys playing with her four year-old German Shepherd, Shadow, and spending time with her mom. Behind the scenes, Rose is still looking for the hero of her own love story – preferably someone who loves to cook – and waiting to find out how her favorite characters survive the latest season of their respective shows. Her books are all available for your favorite e-reader.
