Today is first Sunday of Advent, and this day marks the beginning of the Holy Season. We wait for the day Heaven will come to Earth and gather us into its sacred heart.
I remember as a child waiting for something, hoping for something….not presents or santa….something magical….I remember explaining santa to my friends when I was 7…I told them that santa was the spirit of kindness and generosity, and so, everyone wanting or pretending to be santa really was, because they carried this spirit within. So Santa, I told them, was real. That year my family let me be Santa for the smaller kids.
I remember as a 16 year old throwing a pre Christmas party for my friends, giving them homemade presents and little poems about hope and togetherness…I made it a tradition, and kept this up for many years.
