One Good Thing

Bob the Book , by David Pratt. Been reading it and can't put it down. It is about a book named Bob and his adventures through the world. I can't even tell you how remarkably well-old this is. It reminds me of a children's book, but written for an adult audience, and a gay audience at that. (If ever made into a movie, I would think it would look best in stop-motion, a la Tim Burton's animated films.) Though very charming, this is not all hunky-dory stuff. There are parts of this book - especially those involving book burnings - that are as horrific and as wrenching of scenes as I've ever read, with a hateful preacher that may just remind you of a certain nameless lunatic who pickets funerals. The story can be seen as a metaphor for the gay man's search for love in a world that either "tolerates" us or shows outright hostility towards us. I really can't say enough about this book. This is an out and out rave. I think every gay man should read this. A proper book review would explain just why, but I am anything but a proper book reviewer. Read this book!
