Misunderstanding (Nov 25)

George smiled to himself. He loved that Bianca wanted to know what he was thinking. She was every bit as sensual as he’d initially thought.

And he was still an ass for wanting her.

“I was wondering how stupid your ex was to let you go. And how big of a dick I had to be to hit on you when you’d just gotten out of a relationship.”

Bianca’s face fell. George knew he’d pushed a button she didn’t want pushed. He also knew he’d never forgive himself if he didn’t at least ask her about her ex and the end of the relationship.

“Adam and I were together for a long time. We met in college but were just friends. We ran into each other a year ago and hit it off.”

“So what happened?”

Bianca took a deep breath. He watched her clench her fists and release each hand, one finger at a time. George knew he wasn’t going to like what she said, but he had to hear it.

“I outgrew him. I guess we outgrew each other, but I said it first. He wasn’t very happy with me, but eventually he agreed. I miss him. As a friend. We always got along, and even though we didn’t work as a couple, he was a good friend.”

She sniffed, wiping her cheeks, and George had an undeniable urge to hold her in his arms. He pulled her to her feet and wrapped his arms around her. She fit under his chin perfectly, but he couldn’t resist ducking his head and inhaling her hair.

Bianca pulled back slightly and looked up at him, then slowly pulled his face down to hers.
