You hear them first, ears straining to understand where they are...



You hear them first, ears straining to understand where they are flying. Eyes come second, scanning the clouds in daylight hours for the silhouettes, the shape of wings, the dark of body on white of cloud. Thousands come, flowing Southbound, steady like a stream, searching for something we all are, warmth. You stand, stone still with your breath rising in front of you, as if to join them, as if to carry your hello up to them, as if to say “I am here too. I see you.”
