Hey Siri! Alexa? Hey Hubby!
“Hey Siri!”
What can I help you with?
Siri, you can help me with recipes, restaurant reviews, sports scores, and answers to miscellaneous questions such as, “Do NBA players like the jerseys with short sleeves?”
She didn’t know the answer to the basketball jersey question but at least she replied with a “Sorry, Jena”.
I also talk to Alexa. Alexa is my black cylinder device and she is available for music, news and my questions, too. Sometimes I organize competitions between Siri and Alexa.
“Alexa, tell me a joke.”
Where does a polar bear keep its money?
In a snow bank.
“Hey Siri, tell me a joke.
I don’t think you’d understand a joke in my language. They’re not so funny, anyway.
Alexa won the joke competition.
There is one othe system in my house. Let’s summon it. “Hey, Hubby!” “Hey Hubby!”
No answer.
“Hey Hubby! Did you remember to get the bread?”
“Hey Hubby! “When is your tee time tomorrow?”
“Hey Hubby! Do you want to go to the McAntic’s party next Saturday?”
My Hubby devise seldom responds in words. Sometimes I hear grunts or sighs or I see a shrug or eye roll. I learned how to connect to Siri and Alexa. I installed, uninstalled, and rebooted my Husband app. Why can’t I connect with it?
Let me clarify that for forty years I used the standard operating system- my spouse and I were each programmed to do our jobs and household routines on the default settings. He went to the office and traveled and I handled the house and children. We stuck to the pre-programmed settings and automatically managed our activities and responsibilities. Our circuits were busy, but we managed to communicate and stay on track.
When husband retired from his work I received a warning that my old Husband hardware and software was no longer supported. So I upgraded to the Silver Husband system, and so far, I have not been able to sync with my spouse.
Do you and your have spouse have the same problem- do you have trouble connecting now that your marriage has shifted from the routine of the working years to the nebulous new world of retirement? While I haven’t completely fixed my system, here’s what I am doing to improve my connection with my Hubby.
1. We have developed some shared activities that we enjoy together- NBA basketball games, fine dining with our family, even household chores and yard work and walking the dog.
2. We review our calendars together and share our plans, both our joint activities and our individual pursuits.
3. I try to turn off the television when I want to have some chatting time with my Dear.
Let’s check out my system now. “Hey Hubby, please pour me a glass of wine!”
