The BARROO Report

Having MEGA FUN with National Novel Writing Month this year.

Besides the fact I get to let go and get silly, and rip apart some classic faerie tales, while following the adventures and reformation of wicked Queen Sorcha from THE WOLF THAT WAS, I'm also going gangbusters with my word count.

Of course, it helps that I spend about 2-1/2 to 3 hours every morning on writing .... but I reached the goal of 50,000 words on Tuesday, November 10 -- 1/3 of the way through the month. Woo Hoo!!!!!

Today's tally, when I finally closed up my computer and got dressed to go to the office, was 61K. I also just finished the drastic revision of the faerie tale of the Tinderbox, with a little bit of the Little Mermaid mixed in -- only in this version, the Little Mermaid does not want to marry the prince. In fact, the knife that in the original version (not the version bowdlerized by Disney) the mermaid was supposed to use to kill the prince to get her tail back (yeah, Hans Christian Anderson's version was a little less sugary than we're used to) was used by the prince to force the mermaid to stay in human form. Kind of makes it easy to understand why my mermaid Elli doesn't want to marry the prince, huh?

Anyway .... that's where we stand with NaNoWriMo. Having mega fun!

Now for some more interesting news ....

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14, we begin the scavenger hunt called 20 DAYS OF TABOR HEIGHTS.

Go to my website, www.Mlevigne.com, click on the Tabor tab, and then the Contest tab to learn the rules. It's going to run from November 14 to December 24, with a prize each day, and then 3 grand prizes to reward the people who stick around through the whole thing. Watch this video for more information -- and remember to come play on Saturday!
