When did you stop drawing/sketching and why? Was it that you had to make a choice between focusing on writing vs. visual art, or was it something else?

I was on a fine arts education track, and moved to film in 1994 – so my markmaking sorta became more photography-based. i found that i was one of those guys that couldn’t just pick it up and drop it – i know a lot of artists like that but i was never one – i had to work the muscles every day or they withered. and the school i was in was pretty work intensive, so they withered.

it wasn’t so much a choice as a necessity of time and educational demands? Film led to animation eventually. Comics we...
