The Art of Drawing Pentagrams

The magician’s apprentice placed the heavy tome aside and lifted up a piece of chalk. Rolling his shoulders, he carefully marked the first line on the stone floor.
The magician was a cruel taskmaster, demanding only the finest work from his pupil.
The apprentice took great care to keep the lines straight, the angles true. Once completed, he inspected his work from every angle.
It wouldn’t meet the magician’s scrutiny.
Shrugging, he discarded the chalk.
Picking up the magician’s scrying stone, he cast it between the chalk lines.
Smirking, the apprentice hopped onto the first chalked box, then the next.
