In partnership with LG, our community’s made three how-to videos called “How To Make Your Mobile Videos Cinematic.” Here’s the first one in the series, all about lighting. Basically, no matter how great or expensive your camera is, your shot’s gonna look good depending on the light. Some things that’ll help get your shots looking cinematic include filming with diffuse light, shooting during magic hour, paying attention to the position of the light, and experimenting with back lighting.

Now these are just a few ideas, but I’d also recommend just watching movies and seeing how they use light. And the next time you’re out filming video, think about how your shot’s lit.
