Kiss of death, if true

The International Network for Rights and Development has claimed that Israeli logistical support has been sent to Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak to help his regime confront demonstrations demanding that he steps down as head of state. According to reports by the non-governmental organisation, three Israeli planes landed at Cairo's Mina International Airport on Saturday carrying hazardous equipment for use in dispersing and suppressing large crowds.
I know nothing about this NGO, so this could just be some attempt to whip up anti-Israeli sentiment. I would be surprised if the Israelis were stupid enough to do this, but then the capacity for human stupidity is almost infinite, so you never know.

Speaking of meddling in the affairs of nations and having it backfire, this image has been making the rounds. It encapsulates pretty well the predicament we have created for ourselves by anointing ourselves Globocop.

Of course, one completely crazy lunatic has been suggesting ways of avoiding these foreign entanglements and the blowback that goes with Empire:

But he's barking mad. Let's get back to solving the mystery of how to cut our insane spending and deal with the deficit. And if those seething masses inexplicably feel some hostility to us for our decades of support for Mubarak, well, who can fathom the Arab mind?
