 Wiping the raindrops off his forehead, Guy sighed. He was tired of being wet. Tired of being beaten. He turned and walked in the direction of the old shack. At least there he could sleep under a roof and be out of the wind and rain. The tiny bed would seem so empty. She'd been loving and so giving. Her body intensely responsive to his touch. Her cries of passion gripped his heart.
The mountain grumbled. Guy stopped and listened. The sound chilled him. Be a good volcano and don't erupt. The noise increased. The ground under his feet shifted.A loud moan split the air. Above him trees crashed and rumbled down the slope. An invisible force knocked Guy's feet out from under him then dragged him down the hill. Low branches slapped his face as he skidded by. Mud oozed over his head and poured into his eyes, ears and mouth. He spit and coughed as he bounced off rocks and small trees. His left arm tangled in a bush. The downward force jerked the joint. A burning pain spread from his shoulder to his neck. He dug his heels into the soupy mud, trying to slow his descent. A fallen tree loomed ahead, across his downward path. He reached for a branch. It slipped through his grasp, slicing his palm and fingers. He tried to grab another with his left arm, but he couldn't raise it. Unable to control the wild ride, he braced for impact. His feet hit. His knees buckled. A sickening crunch echoed in his head. Then the pain exploded. Mud poured onto him, damming up against the tree. He must get up or he'd drown in it. He tried to stand. The slightest movement of his leg caused shearing agony to bolt through him.He pushed up on his right hand. The weight of the mud pressed down on him. He didn't have enough strength to fight it. His elbow buckled. He smacked against the mud. Depression and defeat overwhelmed him. He was done for. A vision of Paix's smiling face filled his mind. She'd have read the messages by now. 5.0 out of 5 stars Wow I love this box setI've read books by two of these authors and loved them so I had to get this set. It didn't disappoint. I got this book mostly for Brenda's and D'Ann's books but the rest of the novellas were pleasantly surprising will get books by the other authors
Brenda Dyers Love Comes Crashing In I loved the way the characters were best friends and end up together sometimes your best friend is the one you belong with.
D'ann Lindun's Falling Hard I love Cowboys enough said but Gage and Teagan were a great opposites attract storyline
Daryl Devore's book was fantastic also it was probably one of my favorites of the set. I was crying at the end thinking the worst but it turned out great.
