One of the very first things Mycroft lets John know about Sherlock is that he doesn’t have any friends. “You’ve met him, how many ‘friends’ do you imagine he has?” Yet Sherlock does everything from the very first moment to impress John, to make John like him, to make him happy, to try to get him to stay.

Sherlock knows, somehow, that John is different. He knew from the very first moment.

Yes, from that very first deduction, Sherlock knew John was going to be important. And John knew it too. From that moment on, both men were irrevocably changed.

And no matter how many people tried to warn John away, despite his own doubts (in the blog, he calls Sherlock a madman more than once!), he is instantly drawn to Sherlock. And Sherlock - he takes literally one look and he’s sold. Yes, it’s you, my destiny. Hello. Afghanistan or Iraq?
