“THE IN-BETWEEN MOMENTS” (joe’s script)
When I read the last sentence, and reluctantly close the book, I always feel temporarily lost.
When I’ve gathered the courage to make the call, and I pressed the last digit, and oh my god it’s ringing, and I want her to answer, but what if she does?
When it’s pouring rain, and I drive under a bridge, and there’s a moment of respite and squeaky windshield before the pounding resumes.
When I catch her smiling for no reason. I just assume it’s about me.
When the previews have finally ended. The screen goes dark, and there’s a moment of silence.
When I secretly wake up to watch you quietly get ready in the morning, and then you realize that I’ve been awake the whole time.
When I’m looking at the sky, trying to figure out if the clouds are moving around me, or I’m moving past the clouds.
When I forget you’re gone…
I can always remember the laughter, but never the joke.
