For today’s post, I’m going to share an excerpt from one of my my upcoming releases, ALIEN ATTRACTION. I just finished the first round of edits and am anxious to receive the next round from my editor. In this excerpt, Chal and Angela meet up again. While things aren’t exactly friendly between them yet, he acts as her escape from an uncomfortable situation…
“Well, that’s a nice view first thing in the morning.”
Angela paused in the middle of her sun salutation, holding her downward-dog position. A guy’s voice, but not the one she’d hoped to hear. Glancing between her legs, she spied two sets of muscular calves. Great! Two strange males stared at her ass in the air. Abandoning her pose, she slumped onto her yoga mat.
“I’ve heard women who practice yoga are very flexible in the bedroom.”
The comment wasn’t directed at her, but she turned to face them anyway. Her gut clenched when she recognized one of the men. With his thick, dark-blond hair and crystal blue eyes, he’d caught her attention the day she moved in. After her family had headed home, he’d offered to help her unpack and sweet-talked his way into her bed, professing his love as he fucked her. Then he’d stomped on her heart a week later when she’d caught him making out with another woman in the foyer. A few minutes later and she would likely have seen much more. If only the orb had worked for her then.
“It’s true. I’ve experienced her flexibility and not just in the bedroom, if you know what I mean.” Grant slapped his friend on the shoulder before winking at her. “It’s Amber, right?”
She rolled her eyes. Even sleeping with the guy hadn’t helped him remember her name. “Angela, but it doesn’t matter. I’m leaving.” In no way did she plan to stick around and listen to sexual comments from these jackasses.
She rolled her mat then rushed out the door. Down the hall, in front of the elevator, stood the man she’d hoped to see in the exercise room all week. Chal hadn’t returned since Monday, and she wondered if he’d been avoiding her. He hadn’t seen her yet. Should she turn around, avoid a possible uncomfortable elevator ride?
“Angela, wait!”
She spun around to Grant’s friend heading out after her, crooking a finger in her direction. Refusing to get any closer, she cocked her head to the side. “What?”
“Whoa! No need to be so harsh.” He stepped toward her, letting the door close behind him. “I wondered if you wanted to go out tonight. You know, dinner, dancing, and then back to my place. Or, your place if you prefer.”
The cocky grin on his face revealed exactly what he expected from her, and she wanted no part of it. “Sorry, I already have plans.”
The elevator dinged and she rushed toward it.
“Another night then?”
“Sorry, I’ll be busy then, too,” she called over her shoulder.
When she reached the elevator, Chal held it open for her, a rolling suitcase at his side.
“Thank you.” Angela ducked inside and moved to the far corner.
He laughed. “Well, that was a definite brush-off.”
