NaNoWriMo 2015?
I was so pumped after reading a few posts about people getting ready for NaNoWriMo 2015 that I started to layout my style sheet for the new story idea that popped up just in time for the challenge, but here’s the cold hard truth…
I can’t do NaNoWriMo this year.
All Excuses Facts:
I work 9 to 5 Monday through Friday;
I am NOT, I repeat NOT, a morning person (unless 1 a.m. counts for this purpose);
I have kids with extra-curriculars four nights a week and I am their personal chauffeur;
I have a rental house that needs some attention if I’m going to ever rent it out again;
I have books that need marketed, online relationships to be maintained, and I haven’t even said BOOKS to be written! My ideas are honestly endless and they need to get on paper at some point;
AND FINALLY…
I’m only human; although some days I feel like Super Woman. ;)
Even after all of the above excuses, I persisted, telling myself that I can do it. I’m a doer. And I still believe I could if I set my mind to it. Sure, it would cut into my sleep (BIG time) and make me a cranky bitch for the entire month of November, but I could pull it off, probably.
The one reason why I’m not doing NaNo this year…
There’s one reason that I left out of the above equation, which is the reason why I took a step back and had a look at the bigger picture. This reason, and this reason alone, is why I am not doing NaNoWriMo this year.
I have a loving family who would actually like to spend time with me.
Family first. Me—always—last. My decision. The only one that matters.
Maybe next year? Hahahah. Yeah, we’ll reconsider then. In the meantime, I’ve got books to write!
Are you up to the challenge?
Please tell me some of you are up to the challenge this year. I’ve wanted to do this damn thing for three years now and it’s not ever been something that has fit my schedule.
Please, tell me yours! When do you write for NaNo? Do you see your family during this time? Do you hire the help of a nanny to watch your kids, a cleaning lady to do your chores, your mother to feed your pets? Just how?
Have you decided on your story yet? Are you a plotter or a panster? I’d love to hear from you!
If you’ve never heard of NaNo before and are curious as hell, here is a post that will give you all the answers you’re looking for:
Me? I’ll be putting the finishing touches on Tough Luck, the Stepbrother Romance I finished a few weeks ago. Then maybe I should edit Playing House so I can unleash that witching woman on the world! Talk to ya!
