Reading "My Gift", your guest post, makes me realize what a wonderful mother you are. Have you ever heard someone say, "God never burdens a soul more than it can bear"? Well, I certainly believe in that, and it is quite apparent that God chose you to be your beautiful son's mother because He could clearly see that you are capable of humility, empathy, and above all compassion. And what is most astounding, and beautiful, of all is that you, even as an adult, are open to learning, growing and understanding yourself, along with your son. That you deal with all life throws your way, and still manage to find the silver lining is what makes you such a special mother.
I agree, that far too many people nowadays, despite there being a plethora of sources for obtaining knowledge, who choose to remain ignorant about most things. DS is just one of the many issues that people choose to have pre-conceived notions about and I hope and pray along with you that, whoever or whatever might be the source, people will find it within themselves to look at individuals with DS and see them for what they are - amazing individuals who deal with their adversity in the most remarkable manner possible.
You are a wonderful author, and an awe-inspiring mother. I pray for you, and for your son and wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavors.
