The Residue
Nehemiah 11:20 And the residue of Israel, of the priests, and the Levites, were in all the cities of Judah, every one in his inheritance.
There is a residue of God. A people, a remnant who waited for God and received that which God had reserved for them. A residue means what is left. The residue is not the main part, often not the admired part, but in the eyes of God, an important part.
We often discount residue as worthless, but God assigns high value to those whom He has set aside for a holy and special purpose. After judgments, God raises up His own remnants. The remnant of Israel are those who rely upon the Lord alone. God assures His remnant not to be afraid of the Assyrians. I encourage you not to fear what men can do, or be shaken by the threats that assail your thoughts. Instead receive the comfort that comes to God’s remnant. Be assured, child of God, that your God is faithful to His remnant.
Did you not also read of the remnant …thousands of priests who refused to bow to Baal and whose mouths had not kissed him. God hid them and kept them safe and not Obadiah, the prophet in Ahab’s palace – It was God alone.
Perhaps the most remarkable remnant refers to the true Church, the body of Christ, chosen out of the millions who have lived and died over the centuries. Jesus made it clear that this remnant would be called out of the multitude by God … chosen by God and found faithful. They may not be many … “Many” end up in eternal destruction, but “few” will find eternal life .
In business, political leadership or even in your family, we are to live, lead and act as God’s few. Those chosen by God, different from the others, set apart for a special purpose. Have you found that purpose?

Thoughts for Business and the work place
God has His own unique remnant even in the market place. They are His treasurers. They carry His light.
