In
EEG (Electroencephalogram) readings, adult human beings rarely show Delta brainwaves while awake. When they do these signals are always mixed with faster patterns. Atypical delta signals (say those brainwaves coming from only one portion of the brain , counter to the rest of it) are often a sign of something being biologically wrong with the person.
Babies and young children do show some such patterns, but they fade over time.
By the time a person is in their late forties or fifties, it can be difficult to find delta brainwaves even in the deepest periods of sleep. Which is one reason that it can be hard for older people to ever have refreshing rest.
Some adults can show this kind of activity. They tend to be fairly advanced meditations, yogis, and people who are prone to high levels of intuition, empathy, and connection with their subconscious minds.
