Connecting to the planet and to ‘your place’ on it

I have spent a few days really connecting to the earth, simply by being outdoors and feeling the earth beneath my feet.  It’s amazing how good I feel!

I honestly believe it is the grounding properties that one takes advantage of when connecting with the earth.  This article is really quite interesting:  David Wolfe article re: grounding.

Per David Wolfe, some of the benefits of being barefoot every day are:

Increased energy level
Better fasting glucose levels
Helpful with stress
Helpful for hypertension
Improves sleep
Levels heart rate variations
Improvements for asthma sufferers
Improvements to respiratory system
Improve immune system
Help with arthritis

In my case, I’d recently been visiting a place that is near and dear to my heart from childhood up through now.  Not only do I feel grounded and connected to this place, and I’ve been walking (barefoot, of course) in the ocean, I do indeed sleep well, feel relaxed and have great energy.

BeachSceneI even tried something new yesterday.  I did a bit of a walking meditation at low-tide on a smooth, sandy ocean bottom.  It was an amazing feeling and really filled my soul.

I strongly recommend trying to reconnect with the earth daily, and if not daily, as much as you can.  We all get so involved in life and in our heads that we fail to remember the importance of the earth that is our home and nurtures us.
