Across the Face of the World (Fire of Heaven, #1)Across the Face of the World by Russell Kirkpatrick

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed the whole series several years ago and read all three books in close succession. Kirkpatrick’s world-building detail is fascinating as are the magic elements he includes. Take the ride with this story and enjoy the adventure and mystery.

Stormlord's Exile (Watergivers #3)Stormlord’s Exile by Glenda Larke

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

First let me say I really enjoyed the whole series and the various unique fantasy elements used by the author against the backdrop of political tension over water. All these were consistently used throughout the whole series and even twisted again in this final book. However, this last book left me rather unsettled as to the outcomes. Everything seemed rushed and easily brushed away. I felt that the journey in Khromatis could have used a longer treatment as well as the interactions with the antagonists. The truncations of the various storylines imply to me that there should have been a fourth book to more completely wrap them all up more thoroughly. That being said, while this is rated a three it’s more of a 3.5 to me but not quite a 4. I did enjoy the book otherwise and found it well written.

The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara Trilogy (Voyage of the Jerle Shannara #1-3)The Voyage of the Jerle Shannara Trilogy by Terry Brooks

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed this whole series. The adventure was high, the tension was constant and the characters engaging. This is one of Brooks better trilogies.

Riddle-Master: The Complete Trilogy (Riddle-Master, #1-3)Riddle-Master: The Complete Trilogy by Patricia A. McKillip

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I can’t say enough about this series. I read it many years ago and re-visit it every few years. The quality of McKillip’s writing voice is exquisite and her storytelling excellent. It remains as both a deep and entertaining read for me after all these years.

Read this series years ago. I found the culture, science and plot very interesting. Card is a superb storyteller. This is a very good Sci-Fi series to read.
