Baffled

OK, I'm baffled. I don't understand it. I don't get a great number of visitors to my blog and I'm grateful to everyone who spends a few moments to read my thoughts (so to speak) but something has confused me.

Last year, in June, I blogged about the World Cup and about pies. Yes. Exactly. Pies. Anyway, what's confusing me is that this old entry has suddenly attracted an unusual amount of traffic. Over the past two days I've had over two hundred hits on that particular article. Hs there been a sudden surge in interest in meat pies?

Well, if you want to add to the furore, here's the original post. And, er, here's a picture of a meat pie. Enjoy.

Timothy Pilgrim Hi Dan,
I'm regularly baffled and confused. In my case I blame my age!! May be it is because meat is becoming so expensive, they just wanted to refresh their memory as to what it looked like?
All the best Paul Rix [oldgeezer]

Maybe you're right. A mystery indeed. Actually, I don't mind meat pie fr time to time. Only the highest quality, though, of course.

Timothy Pilgrim Hi Dan,
I'm told, by she who knows, the secret is in the pastry crust, personally I think it's in the gravy.

Or maybe it's both? Also, I get very disappointed if the 'meat' pie is lacking the actual meat. One or two chunks does not do the job, it must be crammed!

Timothy Pilgrim Hi Dan,
You can afford real meat!! spare a thought for us poor indies, we have to 'bulk up' ours with chopped mushrooms and chopped shallots, the red ones are the best! better than an onion. Damn it I'm getting hungry just thinking about it!!

Sadly, my 'mainstream' status hasn't yet provided me with the means to avoid mushrooms and shallots! All this talk is making me hungry, too - a quick run out to Greggs to pick up a Steak Bake might be in order.

P.S. pork chops for tea, with mushrooms etc.
