I hate when people are like “well if you can’t see yourself being with them forever, why bother?”–as if relationships with other human beings are not inherently valuable. As if permanence is the only thing that makes a relationship worth having. As if we do not need different things at different points in our lives.
There are days where I don’t need a forever. Days where I don’t want a forever. There are people who suit my life, now, but who would hate the person I was five years ago, or the person I will be five years from now.
There are people I have deeply, deeply loved and will never see again–but it’s not as though I would want to get rid of them just because we weren’t “forever.”
It just makes me so mad that people trivialize impermanence. Fucking hell, we’re all gonna die one day. Might as well enjoy the time you have with the people you have. Don’t scorn the idea of temporary when you got the idea of a “happily ever after” from a fairy tale.
