So Burning Man may be suing Quiznos over one of it's commercials,

which mocks the desert festival and the people who attend it.

Here’s the commercial. It’s pretty humorous.

Burning Man is pissed because it is against commodification, even though it itself is a commodity, owning intellectual property and retaining lawyers. Its website says “Our principle of Decommodification ensures our landscape is not cluttered with corporate plugs (and we encourage you to cover logos on anything you bring with you!).”

Even Burning Man logos?

Anyway, whenever a person or organization takes itself very seriously, as Burning Man and pretty much the whole Millennial generation does, it’s ripe for a merciless mocking.

If and when a lawsuit emerges, I have no idea how it will go. Parody is free speech and has been ruled that way several times in the past, but you never know what the fuck a judge is going to rule in this country. They pretty much just make shit up as they go along. One may rule it as free speech, another may not.

I tell you this, though. It’s almost lunchtime and I’m heading to Quiznos.
