Ever since writing Crossroads, my heart is naturally drawn to a story about sharing our faith. In addition, as I plan the seventh Miller’s Creek novel with a theme of freedom, the title of this book caught my attention.

My Review

Because of my hair-on-fire schedule, for me to finish a book requires that the book holds my attention. I can’t count how many books I start that I just can’t finish. Captive literally had me captivated from start to finish.

I think the fact that this book is based on a true story was part of the allure for me. The book was difficult to put down because I was so into the story of Ashley Smith, a widow and recovering drug addict trying to start fresh to win back custody of her daughter.

The book did a great job of putting the reader into Ashley’s shoes and mind as she is abducted by Brian Nichols, an escaped prisoner on the run from authorities. Readers are privy to this young mother’s thoughts and prayers as she attempts to make a personal connection with her captor, all for the purpose of saving her life.

If you enjoy an edge-of-your seat read with a great message, you will enjoy Captive.
