"The Poor Man's Budget" A 5 week course learning to live within your means
"The Poor Man's Budget" is ready for content review and editing.
This 5 week course comes complete with worksheets that the instructor or student may freely photocopy as needed.
Each session features a Scripture verse related to finances and provision. From time to time, illustrations from the author's life are used to help the instructor both grasp and impart needed information to the students.
Student workbooks keep most of the worksheets in one place, reducing the need for photocopying but not eliminating it due to how some sheets become the basis for others later on.
Contingencies are suggested to those instructors holding classes where no access to the Internet is possible for certain sessions.
This course is primarily aimed at people living in Canada and the USA, but can be easily adapted to other countries where financial disparity tends to mix with consumerism, debt, and discontent. Two major themes throughout the course can be lumped into two terms: "Needs Versus Wants" and "Found Money".
Week Three takes the class out on three field trips during the discussion on grocery budgeting. A session on getting out of debt encourages the instructor to bring in a guest speaker. Use of white board to illustrate various concepts or show how to fill out forms is also encouraged.
So I'm looking for a small handful of people to help with pre-publication reviews and feedback. Ideally, they will already work with people who are in difficult times financially, or working with people who are struggling to get a handle on their financial situation regardless of their lot in life. If you are such a person, or know of such a person, get them in touch with me.
