Ego-altruism and Migrants

Thousands and thousands of predominantly Muslim migrants are streaming approximately 3400 kilometers towards Munich, Germany rather than 1900 kilometers towards Sunni Muslim, Saudi Arabia with its billions of petro-dollars and common language.

Very soon, the thousands will become millions.

Will Europe's delirium of ego-altruism lead to the eventual dissolution of The European Union?

7jane While I in no way know what the end results or solutions can be (and what terrible thinigs might happen),
this has made me realise that I really need to pray against negative thoughts fluttering in my head that in my view are Devil's whispers... it can be so easy to listen to them and not pray to grow against hearing them, and ask for becoming a better self where I now see a dangerous crack in 'the Christian Armor'. *nods*

7jane Also: these times have made reading Jeremiah (especially when he's in a sieged Jerusalem) and the Maccabees books take another flavor, regarding the situation in Syria and other places around there.

The Good Samaritan is the original parable of human kindness overcoming a divisive culture clash between two peoples.

In that story, the characters eventually go their separate ways, returning to their own cultures.

In this drama, the refugees have come to permanently remain with their hosts, some of whom are not as rich or generous or patient as the ones (Germany and Sweden) opening their doors the widest.

My interest, as a history nerd, is whether this overwhelming tidal wave of refugees, bringing with them their culture that does not play well with others, will strain the somewhat fragile European Union to the breaking point.

The enforced quotas that Merkel and Löfven are proposing today may be the tipping point for some nations in upcoming EU referendums.

David Gustafson Europe has changed dramatically since this was posted one year ago.

It has witnessed the Brexit that will weaken the EU for the remainder of this century.

And Germany's ruling coalition is finally backpedalling away from Angela Merkel's unilateral decision to open its doors and the rest of Europe to a flood of immigrants that brought with them an ideology relegating every mother, every wife, every daughter and every sister to second class status in stark contrast to modern Europe's cultural sovereignty and its support of sexual equality.

Soon, the cultural interlopers will be voting in Europe's free elections.

One year later, the painfully unanswered question remains; why did this tragedy become Europe's burden rather than Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the UAE and Turkey?

David Gustafson It would seem that not everyone in Europe is as pro-democracy as they would have us believe. The politically correct spank wankers in the German and Swedish media are absolutely hysterical today over a democratic referendum taking place in Hungary.

Why, you ask, would the PC spank wankers be pissing their fancy panties over citizens of another free country casting ballots?

Well, Hungary is actually letting its own citizens decide whether or not to accept EU quotas on immigration. Imagine that, allowing citizens to decide a democratic issue of national sovereignty?

Which begs the question posed above. How did this tragedy become Europe's responsibility in the first place rather than the Islamic neighbors in the Middle East with their common language, heritage and billions of petro-dollars?

Which also begs another look at the original post from over a year ago suggesting that this dose of ego-altruism could lead to the break-up of the EU.

Give Germany and Sweden some credit where credit is due. They are still fighting the good fight against democracy.

David Gustafson On the heels of our October 2 assertion that not everyone in Europe is as pro-democracy as they would have the world believe comes this unabashed, front page headline from Süddeutsche Zeittung, "When Direct Democracy Can Be Dangerous," in which Stefan Ulrich complains about referendums in Britain, Hungary, Switzerland, Columbia and Greece.

http://www.sueddeutsche.de/politik/re...

Would one be out of line to suggest that the real reason for this opposition to direct democracy is that some of the these referendums pose a direct threat the narrative put forth by the European media's politically correct spank wankers?

Would it be unfair to suggest that the PC spank wankers are not democrats at all, but rather, unabashed totalitarians?

More often than not, Mr. Stalin, it would seem to be "their way or the highway."
