Movie of the Year

Took a day off on Friday and went to see "The King's Speech."



What a marvelous movie! It is remarkable story-telling. The movie chronicles the stammering problem of the royal who ultimately becomes King George VI (played by Colin Firth). Second in line after his brother, David, who abdicates to run off with the sexy American, Wallace Simpson, George (affectionately known as Bertie) struggles with stammering and a debilitating fear of public speaking for his entire life. Mocked by family and friends, his self-confidence is next to nil. Nevertheless, he must prepare to deliver a speech over radio to the British people at the start of World War II. The mere thought of it brings him to his knees, particularly after already having been humiliated on several occasions when he has tried to speak in public before.
