DIVERGING CADENCE BLOG TOUR - KATIE HAMSTEAD

A Second Chance at Life
About Diverging Cadence:
When Cadence Anderson woke to find her husband and infant daughter had been killed, she thought her life was over. Instead, she was offered a second chance and sent back in time to do it all again. She’s made the most of this opportunity, repairing her relationship with the best friend she lost the first time, avoiding the romantic mistakes she made originally, and even bringing her family closer together. But she’s also done something she wasn’t planning on—she’s fallen in love with someone other than her future husband.
Stepping onto a plane and flying across country to attend university is the hardest decision she’s had to make. But unless she follows through with it, her future with Austin might never happen. And what becomes of her beautiful baby if she stays with James, the man she was never supposed to love?
The only thing she knows for certain is that she has to see Austin again, and she’s intent on reliving that part of her previous life exactly like she did the first time. Even if that means she has to lie to James to do it. Because, deep down, she can’t quite bring herself to let him go.
Now, past and future are about to collide, and Cadence has to make her final choice—follow the uncertain path of a life with James, or the one she came back to save . . . with Austin.
In this emotional conclusion to the story that began in Deceptive Cadence, relationships will be tested, identities revealed, and the past will overshadow the future, putting the finishing touches on an unforgettable tale of courage, sacrifice, and, above all, love.Get Diverging Cadence from Amazon or other retailers today!

DIVERGING CADENCE: Excerpt 1We pulled into the car park, and I thought I would be sick. I sat in the car, unable to move as Tara and Lyla climbed out. I kept thinking about James, then Austin, then James . . .The door flung open and Tara climbed over me—probably flashing everyone behind her—to unbuckle me. “Get out, Cadence!”She grabbed my arm and gave it a sharp tug. Lyla grabbed my other arm to help her. They dragged me over to the short line waiting to get past the bouncer and wrapped their arms through mine to prevent me from running. It only took a few minutes before we were allowed inside. We walked through a dark hallway, and I started to hyperventilate.“Geez, Cadence!” Tara hissed. “Anyone would think you went to a Catholic girls’ school or something!”We stepped through the door, my mind flipping between James and Austin. James, Austin, James, Austin . . .And then there he was, sitting by the bar with his friends. Three girls hovered nearby and chatted to him occasionally, making his wide, easy smile spread across his face. He looked incredible. He wore a dark blue dress shirt that hung open to reveal the white Bond chesty underneath. The tight top enhanced his muscular form, and I couldn’t help lingering over his pecs and abs. He wore dark jeans and black shoes, giving him a casual appearance, yet incredibly sexy all at once. He rubbed the scruff on his face, which seemed to serve as a symbol of his masculinity.Tara elbowed me and giggled. “Stop staring.”My cheeks warmed. “Sorry.”“Really, Cadence, you should let him in. You’re so into him, and he’s only holding off because he thinks you want him to.”I glanced back over and saw the three girls surrounding him as he leaned back onto his elbows. Images of him stepping out of the shower when we were married flashed into my mind. An inferno blazed in my cheeks and I shook off the thoughts. “It doesn’t look like he’s holding off for me.”“Cadence . . .”I hurried away onto the dance floor with Lyla in tow. We danced together, but I soon noticed that Tara hadn’t joined us. Scanning the room, I saw her talking to Austin. He smiled. I turned my attention back to Lyla.Lyla noticed. “That’s him, right?”“Ah . . .” Then it dawned on me. This was the night Austin and I got together in the first timeline. If I wanted to know what would happen between us, this was the moment. “Yeah.”“You should talk to him.”I winced. “Oh no, I don’t think I could.”“Cadence, you look smoking hot tonight. It’s the perfect time to get his attention.”“I, ah . . .” I ran my fingers through my hair hanging loose over my shoulder. “I want to, but he’s surrounded by girls. I can’t compete with that.”She sighed. “Okay, Cadence.”A short while later, she excused herself to go to the bathroom. Then, she did exactly what she’d done in the first timeline: she made her way over to Austin. She stood beside Tara and wrapped her arm through hers as they both talked to him. After a brief exchange, he straightened, his attention piqued. He glanced over to me, and I let our eyes connect. He smiled, and I smiled back. He moved toward me, so I spun to dance as sexy as I could. I had no idea what I was doing. I was still with James, but the memories of my marriage with Austin and all the wonderful, happy times we shared overwhelmed me.Sensing his presence behind me, I raised my arms up and ran my hands through my hair and over my curves. As my hands reached my hips, his hands rested over them. I paused, then slipped my hands out from under his and turned to face him.His hands rested on my waist as our eyes met. He smiled. My cheeks rushed with heat, but I didn’t look away.“So . . . ah . . .” His right hand came up and he offered it to me. “I was wondering if you’d be okay if I introduced myself to you. Austin Jones.”I slid my hand into his and electricity shot through my arm. Squeezing his hand, I responded, “Cadence Anderson.”His smile widened as our hands broke apart. The hand he kept on my waist crept around to the small of my back, and he shifted closer to me.I rested mine on his chest as I admired his masculine beauty.“Do you wanna dance?”My gaze pulled away from his chest to meet his eyes. “I would like that.” With his arm still around me, he guided me away from my friends, losing us in the crowd. Once we were alone, he pulled me against him. My hands were far more troublesome than his as they explored his chest, shoulders, and arms. But he didn’t protest. He kept his eyes firmly locked with mine as I explored his new, yet familiar, body.
