Every relation. :) More of a leitmotif than a specific reference to events of the story (though that piece does get played). 

Editing to add: it’s also a mystery, so the enigma thing… you see. Technically in terms of official genre, I’m going to be calling it a literary thriller (aka a thriller (action-y, quest/mystery-based but driven by character development at least as much as by plot). :)
