Eric Plume Yeah, I feel that way about churning out raw manuscript. I don't mind editing and I've learned to enjoy outlining and plotting, but the initial draft...eek, that's no fun. At least for the first five chapters, I'm pounding keys while thinking "oh my god this is painfully baaaaaaaaad!" :D

Yep. I always hear that you should get the whole thing down before you go back and refine but I'm mostly a pantser so sometimes I start editing while I'm waiting on the muse.

Aaannnd she always shows up right when I step into the shower or I'm just about to drift off to sleep. :P

Yeah, I was a pantser for my first two books, but the idea I'm rolling with this time is just too damn complicated for that, so outlining was necessary. Unfortunately now I'm having trouble converting the outline into a story.

And I feel you about that damn muse. I spend four hours staring at the screen...nothing. I go to bed, and all of a sudden my muse is all "I HAVE SUCH WONDERFUL THINGS TO SHOW YOU!!!"

Then I get back up to write them down and that snarky bitch of a muse comes back with "LOL JUST KIDDING!"

And people wonder why artists are tortured, fickle souls. :D
