Mid Week Tease: It’s not too late for your SUMMER CRUSH with @SashaHibbs

It’s the last Wednesday of August. How did that happen? If you’d like to  stretch your summer to the very end, join me in a sweet SUMMER CRUSH!

SUMMER CRUSH is a collection of wonderfully romantic stories written by today’s hottest YA authors. Here’s a *SURPRISE* tease from one of my favorite YA authors, Sasha Hibbs. Here story, Sutton Summer, headlines this fantastic box set of YA Romance.

SUMMER CRUSH

Summer is the time for lazy days at the beach, sun-kissed hair, flip-flops, and sizzling nights with a new crush.  Those stolen glances and first kisses can quickly spark a flame. However, the road to love isn’t always a smooth ride.

Every Summer has a story, whether it’s a second chance on love, seeing a friend in a different light, or taking a step in a new direction with someone special. Love and long days create endless possibilities, but can a summer crush really last?

The Tease from Sutton Summer by Sasha Hibbs:

Wiping off the counter, McKenzie caught a glimpse of Abigail sashaying up to Dylan’s counter. McKenzie looked away as Abigail was planting a kiss on him. She could deal with it, but she wasn’t going out of her way to watch it any more than necessary. A thought pricked her in the mind. Would’ve Abigail been this interested in Dylan last year as what she seemed to be this summer? But then that rational voice grabbed hold of McKenzie, the one she didn’t like to hear. It told her that she was no different. She looked at Abigail and couldn’t help but feel how shallow she was, but then again, McKenzie had been no better. Funny how things could change so drastically in the course of one year, inside and out.

“Hey, Kenz?” McKenzie’s head snapped up in Dylan’s direction. He hadn’t called her by that nickname since last summer, pre-disaster.

“Yes?”

“Cover for me? Ten minutes?” Dylan asked, hopping over the counter in an all too cool way landing perfectly on the other side.

As McKenzie watched Dylan swoop up a squealing red bikini clad Abigail, she answered, “Yep.”

Dylan’s side of the office was vacant, all the boaters that were going to rent already had for the day. But as she watched Dylan and Abigail run down to the shore and jump into the lake, McKenzie’s line was stacking up.

Ten minutes her butt! While Dylan and Abigail were frolicking in the lake, McKenzie spent the last forty five minutes serving Skittles, nachos, and coke to a line of hungry kids. From across the counter she heard Dylan’s phone ring.

Maybe it was her Aunt Jenny.

McKenzie ran through the door over to Dylan’s side. Snatching the phone up, she recognized her Aunt Jenny’s number flash across.

“Hello,” McKenzie said. “Hello….”

Shoot! She’d just missed her. McKenzie slid the off button to get to the home screen to call her back when she froze in place.

McKenzie stood there, paralyzed by the image on Dylan’s home screen flashing up at her.

It couldn’t be….

After all her painful words, ones she’d regretted since they slipped off her tongue, Dylan still kept the picture of her he took all those long months ago.

Shaking herself out of her stupor, McKenzie quickly laid his phone down and ran back to her side of the office.

Her mind was racing. What could that mean? Did Dylan still care for her? In that way? Did he feel the way about McKenzie as he apparently felt about Abigail? Why else would he have saved her picture? Was there hope?
