Worldbuilding... an example
For #snippetTuesday I've posted a chunk from Reap the Wild Wind

As you'll see, my inspiration and source material came from the Amazon rainforest, particularly when the river itself floods and the bases of the trees are in water. It's an amazing natural wonder--and the canopy high above makes for an environment both foreign and dangerous of itself, yet beautiful.
I've also posted the initial cover sketch by the famed Luis Royo for the book. He used images from the real rainforest, altering colours and adding details from my text.
The result? A world and characters come to life.
