It is possible to protect onesself from offensive speech.

This is the dichotomy: speech and hearing. One is active the other passive. Why should speech, the active, be curtailed in favor of the passive?

That was a rhetorical question and it could just as well be asked the other way.

SPEECH IS EXPRESSION, PERSONAL EXPRESSION.

I have a friend who says that of ALL speech HATE speech should be the most protected. I’m not sure I agree with him, but he makes a valid point.

It’s the speech most likely to be silenced….and is that REALLY the road we want to go down?

The only way you can treat people with respect, is speak to them honestly. Really, do you think ass-kissing is the answer.

Let’s change politically correct to “treat people with respect”. Who get’s to decide what “respect” is? You? The guy who came up with the slogan? Ok, seems fair. What about “treat”. Define “treat”.
