The weeks gone by

It is amazing how time flies. It seems like just yesterday that I posted here, and now I check the blog and it is more than three weeks. Almost a month. Terrible, this neglect. Had this blog been a garden it would be full of nettles, overgrown weeds, touch-me-nots perhaps, and creepers climbing unto where they shouldn't be, moss, grass and a million such things which spring up when you are inattentive.

But the good thing is, neglect, no matter how dense can be wipe out with a single hour of hard work. That is what I did with my garden too, today. I weeded, threw out the dead leaves, trimmed a few plants that needed it, repotted  some where the roots had outgrown the container, added fertiliser to the others and at the end of an hour it looked loved, cared for. And now it is the blog's turn. Here I am--fret not :) *big hug*.

A lot has been happening in my life. A writer I admire a great deal (and a friend too now) Shinie Antony had launched her book 'Orphanage of words' and it was a treat to attend the book launch. She and Ricky Kej put up a great show, reading brilliant snippets from her writing, each line read like a poem.

The following week, I attended the litfest organised by SIWE (South Indian Writer's Ensemble) in Kerala. It was a superbly organised festival and I had two sessions. One was with Shinie Antony where we discussed 'Matters of the heart' and another called 'Muse in the marketplace' as a part of the panel which consisted of Vani mahesh, Pankaj Dubey and Benyamin. It was great to meet so many brilliant minds.

The last few weeks have gone in a blur. Every morning I would wake up and attack my manuscript of my next book. My first edits had come in. If you want to know what the first edits involve and what writing a book involves click here.

I had no clue when the sun rose or set, what date it was, and what was happening in the outside world. My world began and ended with my book! Incidentally for those who are curious my next is a non-fiction book. I have researched hours and hours for it. And each piece in it would be something relevant to us--something that would help us connect with our loved ones better, something that gives us answers to questions we were too afraid to ask but always wanted to know. I am pretty excited about how it has all finally turned out, but I will tell you more details  a bit later. Right now, it is like I have come up gasping for air and have finally started noticing my surroundings.

I clicked a selfie to commemorate the occasion of finishing the first edit of my 7th book.
Here it is--the joy evident on my face

Hope your weeks have been good and productive too.
I shall come back again soon.
And this time no neglect. I promise :)
