If #Sarcasm Is The Lowest Form Of Wit – How Come Only Intelligent People Understand It?

House, Seinfeld, Black Adder… all these and very many more are examples of sarcasm on TV. For the screen writers to come up with this stuff, I expect it takes more than a few hours of hard work. It isn’t the easiest trick in the book to make people laugh.

So how come sarcasm has ended up with the tag – ‘the lowest form of wit?’

Any ideas?
