When I was a kid . . .
When I was a kid my room was right next to our family room.
My dad was a night owl, something I inherited. He would stay up late watching TV. Many nights I fell asleep to the voices of Mike Connors in Mannix, James Arness in Gunsmoke, or Raymond Burr in Ironside.
Around the age of 14 I discovered the Radio Mystery Theater.

These were one hour radio dramas broadcast late at night. I couldn’t wait until I could get under the covers and listen. The host was E.G. Marshall and he had an eerie tone to his voice that set the mood of the story. My imagination kicked into high gear picturing the scene as the actors said the words and the sound effects and music brought he unseen world to life for me.
Now at the age of 50, I still leave the TV on all night. Now I usually fall asleep to the voices of Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Phoebe, and Joey.
I’ve also discovered the world of podcasts. Some of my favorites ones are . . .
