Communication: Form vs Content
If there were something more and greater in life, a benign power guiding, guarding and protecting us, how would it communicate with us? With the famous ‘still small voice,’ a flash of inspiration and innovation, a quiet sense of a presence and guidance? Or would it use a big booming masculine voice, a pillar of fire, a burning bush, a man on a cross? What about Buddhists, Hindus and atheists – how would it communicate with them? Wouldn’t such a benign loving power, Oneness joined as One, have to use the forms of communication we can understand?
The challenge is to know, despite the myriad forms of communication, there is but one message: we are spiritual beings having earthly experiences, and not to make the differences between forms significant. Organized religions tend to make the forms significant and downplay the message. Dogma (religious, political or economic), words, books, concepts and bodies do the same. Yet our benign inner guidance can use the myriad forms to return us to the formless, wordless presence – the something more and greater, that we are part of right now (you don’t have to wait ‘till you die), if we choose to let it.
