Have you ever wanted to take an existing character in a certain direction only to be told "No, that is not happening"?

I’m sure I have. Let me think.

OH! I wanted Deathstroke to be taken over by a new character, a woman, and that story was freaking BADASS. Honestly, it kills me that we didn’t do that, it was absolutely electric, that outline. It still featured Slade, but he was in a brutal position and you end up actually rooting for him.

I am trying to think of what else…I had a million things I wanted to do with Batgirl that they wouldn’t allow. I think, to be fair, they just didn’t know what to do with her in the new52 and were saying no to EVERYTHING. 

I pitched for the INFERIOR FIVE, that was fun and a new direction.

I’m not mad about any of this stuff, this is the process of shared universes. You pitch something, not everyone loves it, you try something else.
