And now let's revisit with novelist Anita Higman, author of Inspirational Women's Fiction novel, Summer’s List (Moody Publishers, June 2015). photo 5_025_zpslkiherka.jpg Best-selling and award-winning author, Anita Higman, has been writing for thirty years and has forty books published. She’s been a Barnes & Noble “Author of the Month” for Houston and has a BA in the combined fields of speech communication, psychology, and art.

Anita and her husband are building a storybook home in the woods and plan to move there by the end of the year. A few of Anita’s favorite things are good movies, fairytales, traveling, gardening, exotic teas, and brunch with her gal friends.

Please tell us three random things we might not know about you.

--I love licorice ice cream.

--I once worked in a pillow factory.

--I love to hike, but after I get all dirty I don’t want to camp-out—I want to go to a nice resort and clean up, relax, and graze across a nice buffet.

A licorice ice cream fan. That's a new one for me!

Please tell us a bit more about the plot of Summer's List.

photo Summers List front cover_zpsstho4tdq.jpg Life hadn't been easy for Summer Snow. In acts of selflessness--caring for her ailing parents and running her grandmother's bookstore--she had forfeited her youth and dreams for the needs of others. And the only tries she had at love... didn't turn out. She had the bookstore, she had her beloved granny, but she was missing something--or someone.

Opportunity strikes when Granny sends Summer on an unexpected adventure with one Martin Langtree, a kind but gangly young man from Summer's past. A childhood friendship is rekindled, a romance is sparked, and mysteries are solved in one magical Texas summer. Will Summer strike out on love again, or will things finally go her way?

What is it about Summer that will make your readers care about her?

Summer Snow is a wonderful person. She is somewhat impulsive, but she also has a good heart. I love this character so much that I’d like to be Summer Snow when I grow up. I hope readers grow to care about Summer the way I did.

If you were the casting director for the film version of your novel, who would play your lead roles?

photo images_zpsaxmqxhbr.jpeg If we go back in time, I’d love to see what Jimmy Stewart

photo Unknown_zpsppufmxcc.jpeg and Donna Reed would do with my characters.

photo images-1_zpsy5pkbujl.jpeg They were wonderful together in It’s a Wonderful Life.

Imagine you’ve been contracted to write a novel about a real person. About whom would you most want to write?

Barbra Streisand, because I’ve been a fan of hers most of my life.

What is the last novel you read that you would recommend?

Meant to Be Mine by Becky Wade. It was fun ride with an upbeat message. Great entertainment.

What are you working on now?

I’m heading out on a new adventure in my writing career. I’m writing young adult books with my daughter, Hillary. I’m very excited about the future, and I hope you will follow along with me on this new journey!
